Individual Membership
The individual membership (online
form) dues help support AAF’s mission of empowering
amputees with information, self-help materials, and referral
services. An individual AAF membership also entitles the member
to a one year’s subscription to Active Living magazine.
Professional Membership
The Professional Memberships (online
form) are for prosthetic facilities, individual prosthetists,
prosthetic manufacturers, and other organizations.
A Professional Member receives:
- A listing in our Bi-Annual National Resource Directory
- A listing on our web site
- A membership certificate
- A year's subscription to our membership magazine, Active
Living
- An opportunity to post an Internet link within your listing
on our web site, annually charged in addition to the Professional
membership dues
- 25 AAF National Resource Directories
- Placement on our Professional Members list which will be
included in all information packets mailed out to new amputees
and/or their families
Web Site
The AAF website endeavors to offer all our print material over
the internet, but uploading our library will be a year-long
process. Currently, our office takes orders for this literature
and the price covers the reproduction cost. Please check back
regularly for newly added articles and booklets of interest.
Information
Over the years, AAF has been able to accumulate a vast reservoir
of information helpful to amputees, their families, or care
providers. Although most of this information is accessible through
our National Resource Directory, there are still questions that
are best answered person to person; over the phone or in writing.
Our staff is more than happy to talk with anyone with a question.
Referral
Sometimes a person just doesn’t know where to turn to
for help or with questions. AAF staff is trained to know to
whom to refer a person in need. Whether it be a medical, funding,
or psychological question, we should be able to get the amputee
to the correct agency or organization.
Self-Help Materials/Literature
As stated above, we plan to have most of our self-help materials
and literature available for free on this web site. But until
then, these are available through our office. We try to tailor
our handouts to the specific level or amputation or particular
problem/question.
Research
Just as sometimes you can’t find an answer to a question,
AAF sometimes doesn’t know the answer. In these cases,
we are happy to do a little research to get the amputee the
answer to any question.
